The tools of direct democracy provided by the Statute of the Zhytomyr City Territorial Community will help to influence decision-making in the community, is told in the infographic prepared by the NGO “Modern Format”.
Public participation in the decision-making process is one of the democratic principles and also one of the ways to ensure democratic governance at the local level, as it provides citizens and non-governmental organizations with the opportunity to make their voices heard during elections.
For many years, Zhytomyr remained the only regional center without an approved statute, and in 2019, the Zhytomyr United Territorial Community received this significant document.
To promote the Charter, the NGO “Modern Format” conducted an information campaign explaining the effectiveness of public participation tools.
Informational materials were prepared as part of the implementation of the Council of Europe Project “Promoting civil participation in the democratic decision-making in Ukraine”.
